Success at No.8!

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Today we did leave fish to find fish and headed back to No.8 Ribbon Reef.  It was the last day for the boys from Newcastle, so far 2 fish caught on their 1st day so they were really ready for some action today.  Capt Adams last day too for a while before he heads off to Bali for some RnR with the family.

Capt Adam made the right decision to head back to No.8 and the boys prayers were answered with a 150lb black marlin for a very pumped Graham Ward and 40 minutes later a 200lb black marlin for Aaron Westwood, his 2nd black marlin for the trip!

The guys left the boat with big smiles and some great stories, sure we will see them back on the Iona II.

Capt Adam also had a smile on his dial, in his last 14 days of fishing he has raised 28 black marlin had 16 bites and caught 9 and 7 of them in the last 10 days!!! Great doing Capt AJ.   He now hands the reigns of the Iona II to Capt Trent Visscher who has some big shoes to fill!  He is one of the young guns of the Cairns Black Marlin Fleet his biggest fish he has been involved in catching is 1389lb lets see if we can beat that this season.  We are excited at Trents return after his life threatening illness and he is chomping at the bit also to get out amongst the big girls on reefs of the GBR. Good luck Trento!

First client for the season for Capt Trent is Jean Paul Richard, many regular anglers to the GBR and Cairns crew will remember Jean Paul, he owned the beautiful French Look a 165ft mothership with 42ft game boat on board.  Jean Paul will be accompanied by his wife on her first fishing trip and a 11 day fishing trip at that!  We wish Jean Paul and his wife all the luck for their 11 days on board Iona II.

Welcome to the start of the Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season!

We are looking forward to bringing you fishing updates, great pics and specials so keep watch on our blog for all the fishing action on board the Iona & Iona II for the Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season.

Both the Iona & Iona II are now in Cairns and the crew are pumped for the season and anxious to get out there amongst the big girls!

Both boats are close to being fully booked so if you have the opportunity to fish with us during the season get in quick!

We have unbeatable charter rates on offer contact us for more info. The boys had a cracka of a trip on board Iona II from the Gold Coast to Cairns with calm seas, magical weather and heaps of fish! The highlight of the trip was 2 black marlin caught off Innisfail, one for angler Al Wright and one for Robbie McCormack, both fish gave the boys some fun and they even brought one on board for a quick picture before being released.

A great start for the Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season for Capt Adam Jordan. Sunday saw us head off with the legendary Reg on board, should be a great trip with lots of laughs and hopefully some good fishing!

Keep tuned for our daily updates during the Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season and we look forward to your comments!

Tight lines!
