Finally having time to recap the last 3 weeks of fishing and wow have we had some action!
30th Sept – 11th October
Frenchman Jean Paul Richard and his wife enjoyed their 11 days fishing with Capt Trent on Iona II so much that they decided to fish another day. Though the fishing was slow Trent managed to release 6 black marlin up to 450lb for the their trip and the French connection went away keen to return next season.
11th – 16th October
Capt John White on board the original Iona fished South African Rudi Raubenheimer fo 6 days. Unfortunately the fishing was very slow but they released a 250lb black marlin on standup. Rudi being a seasoned angler took the slow fishery in his stride but he will also be back for the 2010 season.
12th – 21st October
Team Panama, Andrea Gonella, Robert Brauns and co fished 5 days with Capt Trent on Iona II and successfully released 2 black marlin up to 200lb on the first day and unfortunately fishing was very slow the next 4 days. Jumping ship on the 17th October team Panama then fished a further 5 days on board Iona with Capt John White and after 2 slow days fishing luck turned and saw them release 5 black marlin in 3 days up to 550lb. Team Panama are also keen to return in 2010!
17th & 18th October
Capt Trent headed out from Port Doulgas for a 2 day charter with American John McKeeman. A very happy John returned to port boasting 2 black marlin one 250lb and 600lb. John is also keen to return next season.
19th – 23rd October
After dropping off John in Port Douglas we had a very windy trip north to Cooktown to meet regular angler Macca and the boys. 5 fantastic days of fishing with 8 black marlin released! A nice 850lb black marlin for Macca and an even nicer 950lb black marlin for angler Phil. Congratulations guys see you next season!
22nd – 24th October
After a day’s barra fishing on the Daintree Raymond and Alex from Noumea, New Caledonia looked forward to targetting the big girls on the reef. On board Iona with Capt John they fished 3 days and were stoked with 4 black marlin up to 400lb. We will also see the boys back from Noumea next year.
Capt Adam will be back at the helm of Iona II no doubt at his fav haunt the “Bus Stop” and is hoping his success there before his overseas trip will be repeated the next few weeks.
