We will be heading north in late August & looking forward to the FNQ weather.  We only have a couple of time slots available in late September and a prime slot at the end of October due to a cancellation so be quick to confirm your days on board the Iona .  Check out our latest job, the clock tower in St George west of Brisbane, now thats watching the clock!!

We get our reef fix!

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Well we have been working hard in Airlie & Mackay in the aftermath of cyclone Uli, we have a load of work on so we haven’t had much time for fishing. We have been itching to throw the lines in so much so we caught the barramundi that has been hanging around the back of the boat in the marina! Dicko was most impressed with his catch. See the pic!
However we put down the tools and took the opportunity on the weekend as the weather was glamour and the Iona II needed a good run so we headed out to the Great Barrier Reef and had an awesome weekend. We did a bit of light tackle fishing and caught a nice Spanish mackerel and a lot of reef fishing for red emperor, coral trout & nannygai and caught a heap. On board was one of our big builders Dave and we’re assured his weekend on the Iona II was one to remember.
The Cairns Giant Black Marlin season is approaching fast and we are heavily booked but have some time still available so get in quick for our very competitive rates on board the Iona & Iona II.

Capt Trent Ties the Knot @ Lord Howe

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

We headed to Lord Howe the last week in March for Capt Trent’s marriage to his beautiful lady Brooke. At Talpo Bank a seamount 200 miles east of the Newcastle Canyons and 180 miles from Lord Howe which rises up 80 metres the boys caught some nice king fish and a real nice bass groper. (pics below).

The wedding was a huge success despite the weather leading up and a great time was had by all! Trent is now well & truly gaffed!

The Iona II is currently in Mackay as we have a heap of scaffolding work due Cyclone Ilui. We are available for charter around the Whitsunday region for the next couple of months so contact us our very competitive rates.

Triple Header Sunday!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Capt Adam ventured out to his usual haunt off Newcastle on Sunday with Darren Mehan and the boys from NCIG on board the Iona. The Iona II had a bit of a mishap so we brought the old girl down from Foster and it was good to see she still is a great fish raising machine. We had a bite on a lure from a striped marlin straight up and then an actioned packed triple header which saw us release a nice striped marlin. The boys were stoked and had a great day. We have some hot shots to follow.

We are taking the Iona II out to Lord Howe Island next week for Capt Trent Visscher’s wedding. Should be a great trip and looking forward to finding a few hot spots on the way and also around Lord Howe.

After Trent’s wedding we will be heading north with the Iona II to Airlie Beach as we have plenty of scaffolding work after Cyclone Ilui and will be based there for a few months before we head further north to Cairns for the Giant Black Marlin Season which we are heavily booked for already.  Still have some time available so get in quick for our very competitive rates!

We wish Trent and his lovely lady Brooke all the best for their special day and best fishes to them both!!!!

Lake Macquarie Tournament

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

This weekend we are fishing in the Lake Macquarie Tournament, a 2 day tournament. We were going to fish tag & release but an opportunity arose yesterday that we couldn’t resist! We caught a 411lb blue marlin on 30lb tackle in 3 minutes and put her on the deck. We are in the lead in the capture division lets see what today brings.

Capt Adam is on fire, in the last 7 days he has raised 22 marlin, had 15 bites and tagged & released 10 and caught 1 blue marlin. What a week!

During the week we had Robbie Green & friends for a 2 day charter, the first day was slow but the second day saved us as Capt Adam raised 7 had 3 on and caught 1. It certainly made up for the slow first day.

Stay tuned for the Lake Macquarie Tournament results.
