Capt Adam Jordan
Adam’s interest for game fishing began 12 years ago fishing the Newcastle and Port Stephens waters for black, striped and black marlin. His need to catch the illusive 1000lb black marlin and the opportunity 8 years ago to do a trip north to Cairns for the Giant Black Marlin Season from September to December got the former rugby league player hooked on big game fishing! His passion for his new sport and for boats made the decision for Adam to purchase the 43ft O’Brien Iona in 2005.
He employed the experience of world renowned Captains Trent Visscher and Tim Dean to refine the knowledge and practical expertise that Adam had already acquired in his 12 years of game fishing. This experience with Capt Tim along with his proven results has gained Adam respected recognition in the Cairns Fleet.
After several Cairns Giant Black Marlin Seasons his dream to build a bigger boat marked the way for the Iona II. Adam worked closely with Dick Ward in the design and construction of the Iona II focusing on the fundamentals of a game fishing boat with stability, manoeuvrability and comfort a priority, ensuring Iona II was a world class superior game fishing vessel. This was achieved and the Iona II was launched in December 2007.
Owning and operating successful national company Scafflink Australia, has enabled Adam the time to travel to each seasonal destination to skipper his much loved and highly maintained boats.
The 2008 Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season was a highlight for Adam. As regular Captain Trent Visscher was out of action for the season due to illness, Adam was at the helm of Iona II and had some very successful captures and releases of black marlin. 5 black marlin in a day for a lucky regular American client, another day saw 4 black marlin one of these being on the mark of 1000lb. His consistent results in the 2008 season were noted by Bluewater Magazine in the Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season wrap up.
Adam’s results have been rewarded with clients worldwide rebooking for the upcoming Cairns Giant Black Marlin Season. There are limited days available for the coming season but if you would like the opportunity to fish with Capt Adam we recommend booking as soon as possible.
